Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas, stands in a spectacular setting that challenges even the most imaginary minds. Now one of the 7 New Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu has been honoured with a cocktail that bears its name.
The origin of this cocktail is not known exactly. However, it is believed that it was a creation of the Cuzco bartender, Bernardo Solis Loayza, who from 1984 prepared this drink while working at the Hotel Libertador Cuzco. The drink shows in its colours a hint of the flag of Cusco, which currently it is called the flag of the Inca Empire even though at that time in history flags were not used.
